Leslie Jones, daughter of two WWII Veterans, shared the Legacy of sacrifice and service her family was asked to give.
Lois Crook served as a nurse in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Lois is now 92 years old and resident of Waco, Texas. Mrs. Crook will fly Saturday Oct 11, 2014 with Honor Flight Austin to Washington D.C. to see the memorials dedicated to her service. Mrs. Crook will also pay her respects Sunday October 12th at Arlington National Cemetery, to her husband, WWII Veteran Mr. Clyde Ray Jones, Jr. Mr. Jones was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force at the time of his death. February 6, 1953, having crashed after colliding with another F84-E Thunderjet.
Leslie was four years old at the time her father passed away. She shared with Wreaths Across America;
“He was only 29 years old when he flew that day, February 6, 1953. We were living in England, and he was stationed at Manston AFB. He had orders for Korea in 3 days. I have a letter he mailed that day to his family in which he said, “I don’t mind going, it’s just that I hate to leave Lois and Leslie for so long.”
On October 11, 2014 Leslie will bring her mother, Mrs. Crook to Austin Bergstrom International Airport for her Honor Flight. This flight will honor Mrs. Crook for her willingness to serve and sacrifice as a WWII Veteran. This Honor Flight will also carry the Legacy of a family that was asked to give all.
Mrs. Crook will return home October 12, 2014, 8:30pm at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Mrs. Crook, will be greeted upon her return, by those in the Austin area who appreciate the service and sacrifice, of the men and woman, who were called to give all.
